Farm Forward leads campaigns to transform how animals are raised and how food is produced and marketed. We produce resources that inform consumers, educators, advocates, policymakers and the media about factory farming and its alternatives. We offer consulting to support our allies in philanthropy, business, and the nonprofit sector in their efforts to create a more ethical and sustainable food system.
“Cage Free,” “Humanely Raised,” “Natural?” These labels are often industry-driven humanewashing tools: efforts to market animal products to conscientious consumers through deceptive packaging and labeling by creating an illusion of good animal welfare practices. Humanewashing fools us into paying a higher price for factory farmed products. Farm Forward is peeling back the labels and calling for an end to this deceptive meat industry practice.
Farm Forward’s publications inform philanthropists, policymakers and the media, sharing knowledge to strengthen the movement to end factory farming.
To build a just and resilient future we must change how we raise animals for food. Because our current appetite for animal products is unsustainable we advocate for a “less and better” approach to dining, both at home and institutions like schools, hospitals, and businesses. Members of the Leadership Circle are leading institutions that have committed to creating demand for a more just and equitable food system while improving public health, the environment, and animal welfare.
